Five emerging leaders at the UCI Newkirk Center hosted Empowering Sustainability on Earth seminar series, speak about their activism and research in their respective counntries. Saule Alymbekova at the Institute for Social Development (Biskek, Kyrgyzstan; alymbekova@gmail.com), Vladimir Bartenev Director of the Center for Security and Development Studies at Moscow State University (Moscow, Russia; vladimirbartenev@yaho.com), Rosio Carranza (San Jose, Costa Rica; rocicarranza@gmail.com), Solange Teles da Silva law professor at MacKenzie University and the University of the Amazons, (Sao Palo, Brazil; solange.teles@pq.cnpq.br), and Sara Wolcott consultant and researcher on Climate Change and Global Transitions to Sustainability (Berkeley, CA working in the UK, sara.j.wolcott@gmail.com) speak of how they institutionalize policy making and activism with the help of their expanding networks.
