Tuesday May 08, 2012
Sister Maureen Fiedler (D.C.) and Sister Mary Ann McGivern (St. Louis) talk about how the Vatican is trying to reign in the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, with the April 18th Doctrine of Faith. More insightful programming on where spiritual matters converge with public policy, can be heard from Sister Fiedler's show that she hosts Interfaith Voices, an NPR radio magazine show or on her podcasts, interfaithradio.org. Sister Mary Ann continues her decades long commitment working toward a peace economy and with men and womoen released from prison. Both women are nuns are members of Sisters of Loretto Community. Mothers Day reflections are shared by mother, grandmother, and political activist Linda Schwarz (Tustin,CA); and by mother and Orange County Register Editor Alan Gibbons (Costa Mesa, CA). Conventional and alternative measures are examined, in order that mothers everywhere can be spared another hollow commercial gesture.
